Why We Started This Program
Slips, trips, and falls are one of the leading causes of serious injury among older adults — and many of them are preventable. Sidewalks, patios, and walkways covered in algae, mold, and mildew become dangerously slick through the humid seasons of the Ohio Valley. For veterans who live alone or are on a fixed income, getting these surfaces professionally cleaned can feel out of reach.
At General Co, we believe in giving back to the people who've already given so much. Chris Watts and the General Co team bring pro-grade care to every project, and the Nominate a Veteran program is our way of saying thank you — not with words, but with action.
Each month, we select veterans from your nominations and show up — pressure washer in hand — to clean walkways, sidewalks, patios, and front steps completely free of charge. We do this because we believe every veteran in our community deserves to live safely and with dignity.
How It Works
Submit a Nomination
Fill out the form on this page to nominate a veteran in our service area who could benefit from a free sidewalk or patio cleaning.
We Review & Reach Out
Chris personally reviews each nomination. We'll contact you within 48 hours to confirm details and schedule a visit that works for the veteran.
We Show Up & Serve
We arrive on the scheduled day, clean the walkways, patios, and steps, and leave the property safer — at absolutely no cost.
Who Is Eligible?
Our goal is to help those who need it most. We prioritize nominations that meet the following criteria:
Any U.S. veteran living within our Cincinnati Tri-State service area
Veterans with physical limitations that make exterior home maintenance difficult
Veterans on a fixed income who cannot afford professional cleaning services
Veterans whose walkways, patios, or steps pose a genuine slip-and-fall risk
Veterans nominated by a neighbor, family member, friend, church, or local organization
Veterans may also nominate themselves — no third party required

Note: Due to high demand, we focus on safety-critical surfaces. Full-property cleans are reserved for our paid services.
